Market Challenges of Fuel Cell Commercialisation
Berlin 12-13 September 2002
Sorat Hotel, Spree Bogen
The number of fuel cell and hydrogen conferences has over the past few years exploded to meet the increasing interest and demand for knowledge in these areas. Now each conference needs to, or should, provide some value added benefit to encourage people to attend. This page gives a brief overview as the background behind the organising of this conference.
It is acknowledged that there still engineering hurdles that need to be overcome before products using fuel cell technology can make it to the market place. This said there is also a need to look at the marketplace. The truth of the matter is that most (here figures range from 80 - 95%) of new products that are launched into an open market fail. If fuel cells should succeed then we need to look seriously at issues that we are already aware off, as well as exploring other areas that may turn into concerns. This is why Market Challenges of Fuel Cell Commercialisation focuses exclusively on these market related issues.
The added value from this conference therefore came in two sections. One is this: that we discussed for 2 days relevant issues such as economics, market demand and infrastructure, and, the second is that the conference was limited strictly to 100 attendees and compared with conference of similar quantity is priced at a minimum.
The conference was organized
by the Gesellschaft für Energiewissenschaft
und Energiepolitik (GEE), the German affiliate of the International
Association for Energy Economics
and was sponsored by the International Assoication of Hydrogen Energy (www.IAHE.org).
